Lonchodes are middle- sized stick insects. These insects are specialized to fern- plants as their only forage crop.
At present, at least 3 species are described, e.g. Oreophoetes festae (GIGLIO-TOS, 1898), O. mima (GIGLIO-TOS, 1898) and O. peruana (SAUSSURE, 1868). Typical look of the nymphs:
